What is the next best thing to books? How about food? I was sad to see Borders book store go, but it looks like we have a restaurant moving into that location at Victoria Gardens. It is BRIO tuscan grille. There are a couple in Las Vegas and Phoenix, but this is the first one in California. Pictures on the website make the food really look tasty. They offer gluten free pasta and will also serve Brunch on Saturday and Sunday. Check out their website: www.brioitalian.com
Have you been to Slater’s 50/50 – Burgers By Design? A new restaurant in Victoria Gardens, really down Day Creek Blvd. close to Foothill, in the old Harry’s Pacific Grill location. This is a fun place. They have an extensive beer menu and Burgers! Burgers anyway you like including some options I am sure you have never thought of before. PB&J Burger anyone? They do offer veggie burgers, grilled chicken breast and turkey burgers. 50/50 stands for their signature patty which is 50% bacon and 50% beef. Bacon does turn up in many items across the menu. They have a “Burger of the Month” and donate a portion of the proceeds to the Make A Wish Foundation. This restaurant is defiantly worth a try, service was great – I will go back. They also will text you when your table is ready, so go early, put your name in, give your cell number and if the wait is long enough do some shopping at Victoria Gardens. You can also check the status to see how close they are to having a table for you. For more information visit their website: https://slaters5050.com/locations/rancho-cucamonga/
Frozen Yogurt shops are not so hard to find, not even in Etiwanda. Now Berries Frozen Yogurt is worth a drive even if you are not close by. They are located at 7305 Day Creek Blvd., #102, Rancho Cucamonga CA 91739 in the shopping center with Sprouts Farmers Market on the southeast corner of Day Creek Blvd. and Base Line Road.
What sets them apart from the rest……their creations! Take a closer look at the artwork on the walls, it is really part of the menu, enticing you to try one of their scrumptious combinations. You can have it blended into a thick shake or keep it in a bowl. They use the chilled marble slab to mix in all the toppings if you request or you can just pack them on top.
The last time we were there it was pretty busy, but the staff was friendly and working as fast as they could. As we waited we had fun trying to figure out just which creations we wanted as if one might be better than the other. They have the standard yogurt flavors, berries, chocolate, vanilla and original.
We are not the only ones that like Berries they were voted Best Frozen Yogurt by the readers of Inland Empire Weekly. There are just a couple of benches inside to sit on, but several tables outside and a nice courtyard area with benches so you can sit and enjoy your treat. Stop by sometime you will enjoy it.
What is your favorite Etiwanda restaurant? I know Victoria Gardens has several great restaurants, but I would like to start with one of my family favorites. Tio’s Mexican Food in the Winery Estate Marketplace 7305 Day Creek Blvd # 105, at Baseline, across from Sprouts. They are reasonably priced and the food is great, you will not walk away hungry. I like to test a Mexican restaurant by their enchiladas and salsa and Tio’s are tops. Tio’s salsa it the type with a smooth tomato base with lots of white onion and cilantro. It is very flavorful with a medium heat, if you like it hotter you can mix in their hot salsa. Sometimes we go there just so we can have some of their salsa. One of my Mexican food pet peeve is runny beans and Tio’s are just right. I also like their Chili Relleno Burrito. They offer all the Mexican food standards go visit to see how they do with your favorite I highly doubt you will be disappointed. It is a family friendly restaurant with fast service, order at the counter then they bring it to your table, they also have a few outside tables. They cater and take phone and online orders.
